Rain, Mud and Wet Dogs.

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

After my last post re Boot liner a boon in Scotland, we had a lot of calls most of which related to wet, hairy and dirty dogs and their owners who were fed up of the endless cleaning up after the daily walkies!!!

The main topic centered on the need to protect both bumper, and the whole of the inside of their car boot. One called with a Tri colour Jack Russell, dreaded another dog walking trip because in his own words, “when he comes back (to the car) it looks as if he had been dipped in chocolate”. Dawn French eat your heart out:) {Vicar of Dibley fans will know what I mean!!!}

But on a serious note, after a very dry and warm, sometimes hot month as June has been, it only takes one good shower of rain to set the phones ringing.

In reality what do most dogs like to do when they go walkies? Yes, find a nice muddy puddle and make it and themselves even muddier. It’s not just the mud, but the smell of wet dog hair that gets absorbed into your carpets, sides and seat back which is often more difficult to remove than the mud once it has dried enough to brush off.

This is where a high sided boot liner comes into it’s own. Especially a Boot Buddy which covers all your exposed soft carpets and seats etc, but being a smooth plastic surface, can be wiped clean in a minute or less. All you need is a damp cloth, or hand wipe, and dog hairs, mud, and all the smells can be eliminated very quickly. No need to constantly remove the boot liner to wash it, the Boot Buddy can be wiped clean in the boot, and be looking new and smelling fresh faster than any other boot liner currently available.

So the moral of this story is; we love the rain and wet and muddy dogs, which is why hundreds of dog owners a month car relax knowing their muddy dog and nice car can get along fine together, once they have a Boot Buddy in place.

Boot liner a boon in Scotland.

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Hi Adrian,

Reporting safe and prompt delivery of our Boot Buddy as requested. It arrived yesterday and was installed in the boot by  evening. Fitted straight in as though it was made to measure(:)) Joking apart I am very pleased with the finished product and the excellent service. Thank you very much for your time and patience.

 Updated two weeks later.

We’ve just come back from a holiday in Scotland where the boot liner has been a boon, keeping the dust hair and sand in the liner where it was simply removed daily with a car vac and a damp cloth. Great!!!

 All the best J Stubbs.

High Sided Car Boot Liners.

Car Boot LinersCar Boot LinersCar boot liners cover numerous types of car product, so lets clear up the various types that are currently available.

If you type for example, car boot liners into Google, Yahoo, Aol, MSN search box, you will end up with everything from a flat floor mat for your cars boot, depending on make model and year. through mats with slightly raised edges, to low moulded plastic trays, (the type most car manufacturers tend to sell.

Then you will find boot liners made from fabric, some waterproof, some not. Some machine washable and some wipe clean. These tend to offer much more protection often right up to the window level, and over your rear seats. Being made from a soft canvas coated fabric, these tend to require fixing kits, (often Velcro) to hold them in position. N.B. In cars with plastic lined boot spaces, Velcro does not stick. Also many new cars now use a form of velor material instead of carpet in the base, sides and up the back of your rear seats. Again traditional Velcro does not stick to these surfaces.

Finally there are free standing car boot liners with the higher sides. Companies such a Boot Suit and Armadillo, were once popular, but both these companies no longer exist. Boot Buddy fill their customers needs by making custom made, high sided car boot liners for most cars today. Because Boot Buddy boot liners are free standing, they do not rely on fixings to stay upright. Another factor to consider, is the custom option, where you can state the side and back height you require, which may be higher or lower than the Boot Buddy standard height.

Boot Buddy have thousands of boot liner dimensions on file, and continue to add new ones as each new car is released. We made probably the very first high sided boot liners for many of the new cars in the past two years.

So where full height, and maximum protection are required, along with a free standing car boot liner, there is only one company in the UK who supply these liners, and that’s Boot Buddy Ltd. Call them on 01299 822230.

Audi Boot Liners

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Today we want to concentrate on boot liners for Audi cars. You may have been offerred a boot liner when you purchased your new Audi, we have heard of these being offered as an extra incentive to make the sale. Plus it makes sense, if you know you will carry heavy or dirty goods in your boot, to go for a boot liner.

Audi manufacture their own liners and boot mats. But, these are only useful at protecting the boot floor as even their so called high sided liners, are really only trays. What happens when you need to transport larger items, such as going to the tip with a boot full of garden cuttings, or when the boot is full of DIY materials. Then again we find a large number of car owners have a dog, or more than one.

We all know the mess dog hairs can cause in your boot. They get embedded in the fabric, making cleaning a nightmare. Also the saliva, mud from their walks, and worse, all end up on the boot carpet, sides and seat backs. So in these cases a tray of boot mat offer minimum protection.

Boot Buddy make high sided boot liners, which cover all the base, sides and full height of your rear seats, and at a lower cost than the official Audi trays as well.

So if you drive an Audi A2, A3 and Sportback, A4 Avant, A6 Avant, Q5 or Q7 and need maximum protection, take a look at the Boot Buddy Ltd website. We also make load liners and extension kits (ProMax) to extend high sided protection when your rear seats are folded down. Car boot liner caution.

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

We have had many questions about how our Boot Buddy boot liners are able to stay up when in your car boot. The Boot Buddy is self suporting in as much as it stands up even when Not in a car boot. We always include a “Velcro” pack with all our boot liners should you want additional suport.

Some of the softer material boot liners, while being strong and often water resistant, rely heavily on the hook “Velcro” to suport them. On some vehicles the hook “Velcro” does stick well, however on more and more cars the “Velcro” does not stick. Obviously if it does not stick, the sides may collapse into your boot so you end up with no side and maybe no rear seat protection either.

Because the Boot Buddy is made from semi rigid polypropylene plastic, it is almost impossible to rip it or puncture it even when loading sharp or heavy objects. The added advantage is that the sides and back panel when in your car boot cannot collapse as they do not rely on the “Velcro” fittings.

If you are in any doubt as to whether your car boot lining accepts “Velcro” or not, take some of the hard, hook “Velcro” out and try it. If it sticks really well, softer liners should be okay, if however it does not stick then a moulded liner from the manufacturer, or a high sided, custom made Boot Buddy will be needed.
